Step 4: Undergo clinical training

During your clinical training period you demonstrate your practical knowledge and skills and your suitability for the profession. At the same time, you will see how the Swedish healthcare system works. You can begin the clinical training when you have passed the entire proficiency test.

Follow these steps

  1. You have to find a workplace yourself where you can do your clinical training.
  2. When you have completed your training, your manager and your supervisor will fill out a certificate for your clinical training. You must also sign the certificate.
  3. Enclose the certificate when you submit your application for a licence in the next step.

More information to come

We will supply more information about the clinical training. If you have questions about the clinical training you can contact us at the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare. You can send an e-mail to socialstyrelsen@socialstyrelsen.se or call us at 075-247 30 00.

Frequently asked questions

Can I skip clinical training if I have worked in my profession?

No. You will need to undergo clinical training even if you have practised your profession before. Previous experience does not entitle you to a shorter period of clinical training.
