Are you educated in the United Kingdom

If you have a diploma issued in the United Kingdom before Januari 2021, you have the opportunity to apply for license to practice on the same basis as from any other EU member state.

If you have a diploma from the UK that was issued before 1 January 2021, when the UK was still a member state, the National Board of Health and Welfare can assess your qualifications on the same basis as from any other member state. This due to an addendum to Annex V to EU Directive 2005/36/EC.

If you graduated before 1 January 2021 and have already got an assessment of your qualifications

If you have a British diploma issued before 1 January 2021 and have received an assessment of your qualifications from the National Board of Health and Welfare, please contact us for further guidance in your specific case.

Please note that your decision from the National Board of Health and Welfare is still intact and valid, but there is now an opportunity to assess your qualifications another way.

If you are applying for a license for the first time

  • If you plan to apply for a license to practice and have a diploma from the UK that is issued before 1 January 2021, please apply for a license to practice as educated "within the EU or EEA". Choose your profession first and then where you completed your basic education.

  • If you plan to apply for a license to practice and have a diploma from the UK that isissued from and after 1 January 2021, please apply for a license to practice as educated "outside the EU and EEA". Choose your profession first and then where you completed your basic education.
