Step 3: Pay and send in the application

Once you have completed your dental specialty training, you can apply for a Certificate of specialist expertise. You apply according to Regulations (HSLF-FS 2017:77) of the National Board of Health and Welfare, and enclose the certificates that must be included according to the regulations.

How to apply

  1. Fill in the application form and make sure that you have all the certificates required.
  2. Pay the application fee.
  3. Submit your application by post.

The Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare’s certificate must be submitted as original. Other certificates, such as academic degrees received outside of Sweden, which you attach to the application should be submitted as copies. The Certificate of specialist expertise is valid from the same date that the National Board of Health and Welfare decides to grant your application. When a decision on Certificate of specialist expertise is made, the certificate is sent as a pdf via e-mail. The National Board of Health and Welfare no longer signs the certificates. Read more about the decision under Frequently Asked Questions.
